Soft-tissue tumors

Angiolipoma

Soft tissueBenignAdipocytic tumours

Epidemiology

A benign tumor of fat with blood vessels, typical of young adults and sometimes multiple. It can be more painful than a common lipoma because of its vascular component, especially when it is subcutaneous and multiple.

Basic features

It is usually superficial, small, and tender to the touch, unlike many common lipomas.

Usual treatment

Simple removal is considered if it causes pain, grows, or is bothersome because of its location.

Outcomes and prognosis

The prognosis is excellent. Because they are often multiple, new nodules may appear elsewhere over time: that is not a recurrence of the one already removed, and only those that cause trouble are operated on.

This information is general and does not replace a medical evaluation. A musculoskeletal tumor must be interpreted together with imaging, physical examination, biopsy when appropriate and each patient's context.

Specialist evaluation

If you have a mass, a bone lesion or a report suggesting a tumor, book an evaluation.
