Soft tissueBenignChondro-osseous tumours

Epidemiology

A benign cartilage lesion outside the bone, common in the hands and feet of adults. In the fingers, hand, or foot, calcification within a small mass points to the diagnosis and helps plan a limited resection.

Basic features

It can calcify and present as a firm nodule near tendons, joint capsules, or tendon sheaths.

Usual treatment

Local removal is indicated if it hurts, limits function, or the diagnosis is not certain on imaging.

Outcomes and prognosis

The prognosis is very good; it can recur locally if the resection is incomplete.

This information is general and does not replace a medical evaluation. A musculoskeletal tumor must be interpreted together with imaging, physical examination, biopsy when appropriate and each patient's context.

Specialist evaluation

If you have a mass, a bone lesion or a report suggesting a tumor, book an evaluation.
